Birthday Weekend in Pictures

Today is Hayes' actual birthday! I cannot believe my baby is 1 year old already! The time has flown by since the day she was born. I'm sure each year will go just this fast. It's been an amazing first year of her life for all 3 of us. Nathan and I have learned so much from her already. We are extremely grateful to the Lord for her sweet life that He has entrusted us with. We are more than blessed every day that we all 3 get to wake up to each other. I LOVE this girl with all my heart and it both thrills and saddens me to see how quickly she changes and grows! I know her baby days are quickly coming to an end. Her latest thing is that she will play all over the house, but then we'll hear her walk in her room and SLAM the door and play by herself. And she is ONE! What 1 year old is supposed to do that?!!! She likes to play in her room but really I am afraid this is a small glimpe of our future, but I was hoping that would be at least 15 years away!!

We have celebrated all weekend long, actually all month long:) but the past 2 1/2 days have been lots of fun for all of us. My mom, sister, and the girls came in town Friday night (we missed Cory and Carson-he had the flu:( We had a yummy dinner at Rossbridge thanks to Nana and then girls were super excited about swimming in the indoor pool. I think they all had a late night but we made it home around 9 so the b'day girl could rest up for her party the next morning.

Saturday morning we were up bright and early getting ready for the family birthday breakfast party at 10:30. We were hoping she could take a little nap before the party, but she was too excited to sleep. haha! And I'm sure she was wondering why we were making so much noise and not getting her up to get ready for her party! We had grandparents, aunts and uncles, and lots of cousins here to celebrate with us. It was a full house with lots of food and fellowship! Hayes did not know what to think about her little cake at first, but then she figured it out and ate ALOT of icing.

Big day for a little girl! Last night we continued b'day festiviites w/some yummy mexican w/Shug and Grandaddy. Then this morning we woke up early on this rainy day, went to church, and then to eat a birthday lunch at Firehouse Subs-our favorite!! We're so thankful to ALL of our family who made the trip to Birmingham to celebrate w/our ONE year old birthday girl! It would not have been as special without every single person here!

Hope you all had a great weekend despite the rainy weather. And now it's afternoon nap time!

Happy 1st Birthday, Hayes!

We've had a wonderful weekend so far celebrating Hayes' 1st birthday! It's been super busy and fun visiting with family, and we've had 2 late nights in a row with only a couple of meltdowns today. Hayes has been such a trooper. More to come later on all the birthday fun. Cannot believe she will be ONE on Sunday!

Happy 1st Birthday, Hayes!!

Almost Birthday Time!

It is so wild that almost a whole year has passed since Hayes was born. It seems like I was just at school getting ready for the next week and then over the weekend, she was born, two weeks early! That truly seems like just a few months ago. Our world has totally changed and for the better since January 2009. We love this girl with all our heart. Next weekend on the 23rd we are celebrating her FIRST birthday with a SNOW party with our family. I've had our house decorated for weeks (seriously) with snowflakes. Nathan says our house looks like the movie Elf when Will Farrell decorates the department store for Santa. But, since it's been EXTREMELY cold outside I think the inside snow/snowflakes/snowmen are appropriate!!

Last week we went birthday party shopping and found her the sweetest little hat! I really doubt she will keep it on at her party but at least I've already got one picture with her in it.

Do you mean we are having a birthday party for me?!!

Here are some recent pics of what this almost one year old is up to.

Finally getting to be a big girl and get in the big bath tub. I know a year is a long time to bathe a baby in the kitchen sink, but she hasn't known any difference and it's been super easy for me!

Learning to love her baby dolls, hopefully.

Which one should I play with?

BIG GIRL food. No more baby food for this one. The only thing she will let me feed her still is her yogurt, nothing else! She likes everything so far, all fruits and vegetables (but no oranges:), turkey, cheese, eggs, pancakes, grilled cheese. Just like her parents!! Also she is making the switch to whole milk. So far she likes it and I'm thankful. No more nursing for this momma!

This weekend we're going to visit a good friend from college in Atlanta. I am taking Hayes so it won't be too relaxing, but she'll have her 2 little friends Anna Clare and Lucy to play with so it will be fun for both of us. However, we ARE planning to go out (just dinner:) after the little ones go to bed! I'll have some pics to post next week. Happy Friday!

Our Christmas Pictures-Part 2

I'm wrapping up our Christmas pictures from 2009 in one large post! I'll try to make this one a little more text-less.

Christmas Eve Day!

Christmas Eve Day we celebrated with my mom's side of the family with Christmas Eve lunch and dirty santa with ornaments. It was alot of fun for both the kids and adults and we got some good ornaments for our tree next year. Hayes did great for a while, playing and eating off anyone's plate like a little puppy. Then around 3 she started falling apart and was ready for a nap.

Hayes and Holley

Alyssa, Cory and Carson

Nana and her grand-girls-not sure where Carson was. Christmas Eve night we went to the candlelight service and then ate a yummy dinner at my sister's house! The kids opened gifts and had a great time. Hayes loved playing in all the wrapping paper and boxes. Her favorite thing was just pushing all the boxes around the living room!!

Waking up on Christmas morning and waiting to see what Santa brought!! SOOO excited. And that rattle has been one of Hayes' favorite toys since this summer. My sister brought it back for her from Jamaica and last week I accidentally stepped on it and it cracked into tons of little wooden pieces. So sad, but at least she got lots of things to replace it with!

Nathan and I decided early on that we were going to give Hayes 3 gifts plus her stocking for Christmas every year. So this year we gave her the Jesus Storybook Bible, a few outfits, pajamas, and a stocking full of baby necessities/a few small toys. And really every week I am buying her TONS of essential items-more sippy cups, toothbrush, socks, etc. so all month I was stuffing most everything I bought into her stocking.

Christmas morning breakfast appetizer-this girl LLLLOOOOOVVVESSS some Cheerios. She seriously probably eats at least 100 every day and never gets tired of them!

Christmas Day family picture! We spent Christmas Day and night w/Nathan's family. We ate, ate, ate some more and then opened gifts that night. More toys, pajamas, shoes, and boxes, boxes, and more boxes to play with!

Shug and Mr. Baker Boy, our sweet new little cousin-almost 11 weeks old. I know Lindsey thinks time is flying too but it seems like he was just born. Can't wait for him and Hayes to really start playing together. Oh, the fun times they will have at Shug and Grandaddy's house!!

And lastly with all of our new toys here at home, this is what she really loves to play with-her laundry basket. She will pull every single thing out and drop it all around the house.

That did not really turn out as text-less as I had hoped. Next time I'll be back with some more current happenings around our house. With January here we are getting in full swing with Miss Hayes' birthday coming up. I'm so excited about her party I can't stand it. I wake up thinking about various details during the night. Nathan thinks I am crazy but I can't help it. It's her 1st birthday and it only happens once!! Have a great week!
