Watson had his 4 mo. check-up today. I am so proud of that big boy. He is growing like a weed. He weighed 16.5 lbs and was 25 1/2 inches long. He was super sweet and cried for just a minute when he got his 4 shots and then fell asleep on the way home. I had lots of questions this time for our doctor (who I love, love, love by the way-she's a Christian and a MOM of young children-enough said-if you need a new/different pediatrician she is awesome) And after ruling some things out today, I am bound and determined to make him a good napper and nighttime sleeper before I lose my mind!
He's definitely a different baby than his sister. Nighttimes, routines, feedings all are different than she was. I will give him some major credit w/his loooong afternoon nap, usually 2-3 hours. You do score big points w/that one W. But, we're about to start some baby bootcamp soon. The main thing is his inconsistency. Some nights are great, some nights are terrible and we're back at square 1! He seems to have a major infatuation w/his paci. A good and bad thing...good for daytime to soothe and calm him, bad at nighttime-especially in the middle of the night. He likes it in his mouth non-stop while he's sleeping. And if it falls out, he's awake and needing it back! This could be 0 times or it could be 18 times. EXHAUSTING!!!
Look at this sweet face. He doesn't even know bootcamp starts tonight! hahaha! He has had rice cereal a few times. Doesn't seem to be a big fan though. We will start working on the spoon soon-does not know quite yet what to do w/it.
He had his 1st bath in the big bathtub a few nights ago w/Hayes. She loved it, he was neutral. I'm a fan of kitchen sinks baths for babies. I bathed Hayes in the sink until her 1st birthday, and yes she was big in there. It was just easier that way. The faucet is so much closer!
He was a happy baby until Hayes crowed in his ear like a rooster. Then he got scared and cried. Bathtime was over!
So if you happen to wake up in the middle of the night, please say a prayer for this little man (or for me!) that he will LEARN how to stay asleep all night and self-soothe w/out the paci . I am sure one/some of us will be up!

Hey Amy!
What cuties! Watson weighs the same as Cade does right now (Cade is 6 months)! :) I just wanted to let you know that I'm in the SAME boat as you with sleep for my baby boy--so frustrating! Emery was an AWESOME sleeper (at night--not naps) but Cade is still inconsistent! I feel ya'! What did your dr recommend? I'd love to see y'all sometime...take care!
Amy! I love the pictures!! I will be praying for you guys!! I hope you get a goodnights sleep tonight!!
I laughed out loud about Hayes crowing in his ear like a rooster!! Hahahahaha! How can that sweet face be any trouble? I wish they made a paci strap with elastic to keep the paci in place. I'm sure thats a hazard though.
He is such a doll baby! I love him. I can only imagine what it looks like to see little ole' you carrying that big boy around! And hang in there...sleep WILL come. Have you ever tried a wub-a-nub? We live by them in our house. They are pacis with animals attached so that they don't fall out of the mouth easily. It was a life saver for us. Just FYI! Love ya!
Amy - I'm praying!! He is so cute and precious though:). It makes it more bearable right?!?! Let's play next week it we dont end up doing dinner or splash pad. Love y'all!
I can completely identify with the infamous "paci game". Josh and I spent many nights brainstorming on a new and improved paci that would NOT fall out of a baby's mouth. I hate to admit it but there were a few nights when debated putting a little scotch tape on that thing and taping it to our face. Granted better minds prevailed and reminded us that DHR does exist for a reason :) Sleep deprivation will make your mind wonder to some crazy places though! Anna Lee eventually got old enough to put the paci back in herself so we just made sure that there were SEVERAL in the crib every time she went down. Hopefully a little bootcamp will be all he needs though...its really for everyone's own good...just remind yourself of that :) Praying for a successful night for you guys!
